A Spark of Romance by Paullett Golden

Brief Summary

Isobel is a quirky gothic writer with big publishing dreams. Alistair is an attractive, aspiring British gentleman. Their connection occurred under somewhat awkward circumstances. Prior to this, he had planned to marry Isobel’s closest friend, Leila. Not only did their love story start oddly, but Alistair also had a bit of baggage that needed to be unpacked before he made Isobel, his intended bride, under the eyes of the law and God.

My Review

Golden concluded this anthology on a remarkable note. It is somewhat challenging to put into words how much I loved this story. I held a deep admiration for the protagonist, whose character exhibited a refreshing quality, particularly in the context of the era in which this story was composed. Furthermore, Golden not only skillfully developed the characters but also infused them with an appropriate level of depth, resulting in a portrayal of a realistic and complex individual. The romantic narrative of Isobel and Alistair elicited unconscious smiles and exuberant expressions of joy as I was reading. The author skillfully interwoven each story within this anthology. The storyline flowed naturally, and each plot point was expertly organized to birth Isobel’s and Alistair’s “spark of romance.”

A Spark of Romance by Paullett Golden receives a rating of  5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this book and the anthology.
