Brief Summary

The Davenports are celebrated Black Perfection in 1910. Living in luxury at the time was unusual for African Americans, but the Davenports and their close friends were the exception. Amid racial segregation, this novel chronicles the experiences of four young African-American women who struggle with social expectations while searching for independence and love.

My Review

This book was fantastic. I found this to be a page-turner. Every chapter left me on the edge of my seat. I adored how the author depicted Black love without typical tragedy but still adhering to historical facts. It was a welcome change of pace for me to read and envision the simplicity of love between a Black woman and a Black man.

The Davenports by Krystal Marquis receives 5 out of 5 stars from me. I highly recommend reading this book. I loved it.

My review of the sequel The Davenports: More Than This will be published soon. I am honored and thankful that NetGalley and Penguin Random House approved me to join the ARC team. This book is now available for pre-order.

The Davenports is available on various platforms including Amazon, Penguin Random House, Barnes and Noble, and Books A Million.
